Lady Henderson
The funeral will take place at Carlisle to-morrow of Lady (Janet Glendinning) Henderson, widow of Lord Henderson of Ardwick, who was Lord of the Treasury in the Socialist Government from 1945-50. Lady Henderson died in a nursing home at Coventry on Saturday. She was 81, and had lived with her daughter, the Hon. Mrs. M. Irwin, for eight years, at Morningside, Coventry.
Lady Henderson was born in Scotland and married Mr. Joseph Henderson, first Socialist Mayor of Carlisle and a former president of the National Union of Railwaymen, in 1908. Her husband became Lord Henderson of Ardwick - the seat he represented in the House of Commons for many years - in 1950. He died in that year, before taking seat in the House of Lords.

"LORD HENDERSON
Lord Henderson of Ardwick died in Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, last night. He was 65. Formerly Mr. Joseph Henderson, Labour M.P. for the Ardwick division of Manchester, he was raised to the peerage in the New Year's honours list.
Joseph Henderson went to Carlisle Elementary School and followed his father in becoming a railway shunter and then a guard. He was president of the National Union of Railwaymen in three successive years.
He won the Ardwick division for Labour in a by-election in June, 1931, but was defeated at the General Election the following October. Regaining the seat in 1935 he held it continuously until he was made a peer.
Lord Henderson had not taken his seat in the House of Lords. A fortnight before Parliament adjourned for Christmas he returned home unwell and had been ill since then."5Newspaper Obituary, Manchester Evening News 27 Feb 1950.
