447. William GLENDINNING

1Newspaper Obituary, Streetsville Review 29 May 1913.
"The grim reaper death has again visited our village and in Friday morning past, May 23rd, summoned one of our oldest and most respected citizens, in the person of Mr. William Glendenning in his 75th year.
Mr. Glendenning had been ill for several months but bore his affliction with great patience. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbour and above all an earnest Christian, being a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church since a boy. He was born in the village in December, 1838, and spent all his life around Streetsville. For a number of years he farmed on the Fifth line, but had lived retired since 1894. During his life he witnessed many changes in the village and was always glad to converse with any of the old boys and girls whom he happened to meet. His old chum, Mr. William Jones of New York, was here two weeks ago, and he enjoyed his visit very much.
The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, service being conducted at the house by Rev. J. F. Scott, pastor of St. Andrew's Church, who delivered a very impressive discourse from the words of the 21st verse of the first chapter of Phillipians: "For me to live is Christ, to die is gain." The funeral then proceeded to Streetsville Cemetery where interment was made.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. Edgar and Art. Adamson, Jas. Blackall, R. H. Greig, C. H. Falconer and Alex. McClintock.
The floral tributes were very beautiful.
Besides his widow, one son, Rolph, of Shallow Lake, survives, and the sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved in the hour of their affliction."

1Newspaper Obituary, Streetsville Review 29 Oct 1914.
"The funeral of the late Mrs. Wm. Glendenning took place past Friday afternoon. Service was conducted at the house by Rev. J. F. Scott after which the remains were laid away to rest in Streetsville cemetery beside those of her husband who predeceased her seventeen months ago. Mrs. Glendinning was a very fine woman and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was born in England and came to Canada when quite young. With her husband she lived for many years on the farm on the fifth line, but for the past 20 years has resided in the village. One son, Ralph, of Owen Sound, is the only survivor. Mr. and Mrs. Woodward of Detroit and Mr. Buckburrough of Norwich attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Glendenning."

454. Dr James Irwin GLENDINNING

1Newspaper Obituary, Streetsville Review 2 Dec 1915.
"Passing of Dr. Glendinning
The villagers were shocked this morning when the news was spread that Dr. Glendinning had passed away. He had been around as usual yesterday and was down town. In the evening he took a weak spell and died suddenly.
Dr. 'Jim' as he was familiarly known, was a son of the late John Glendinning, one of the pioneers of Streetsville. He received his early education here and was one of the bright young men who graduated with honors at the University of Toronto in the eighties. He has been practising his profession in his native village ever since, and always held the respect of the citizens and the confidence of his patients. He possessed a genial nature and had many friends. His foremost thought was to restore the sick to health and remuneration for his services was always a matter of secondary consideration.
Deceased leaves a wife and one son, Elmer, to mourn his demise. They have the sympathy of the community in their said and sudden bereavement."
